Educational Lecture Series Coming Soon.
NEWS: Updated as it happens ~

Our next meeting is Tuesday, June 30, 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Paonia Public Library, Meeting Room,
3rd Street,
Paonia, Colorado

As a direct result of the wonderful turnout of the holistic health fair,
the Paonia Chamber of Commerce is going to print
a Health and Wellness Directory.

If you desire to have your name and business in the Paonia Health and Wellness
Directory, please download a form at
www.paoniachamber.com, get one from
Expressions Books Store or either call Gloria Crank at (970) 270-3811, or email her at
gloriacrank@hotmail.com.  The deadline is July 15, 2009.
They would like to have it out by the Harvest Festival in August.

You do not have to become a member of the Paonia Chamber to be in the directory,
unless you would like to support them with this endeavor.  The cost, as of June 2009, is
$20 for an individual for the rest of the year.  The yearly cost is $40 for an individual.

If you know of anyone who wasn't part of the fair and might be interested
in putting a listing or ad in the directory, please forward this to them
or have them call Gloria Crank.

Our first organizational meeting
June 2, 2009 at the Paonia Public Library
gathered many great ideas and we would like
to share them with you!

We opened with a recap about the holistic fair through looking at the web pages created
for it. One goal is creating a website for North Fork Valley Holistic Health Cooperative. I do
web creation through Yahoo Webhoster, a new site would be $6.47 per month first 3
months, then $9.95 after that. We would include an expanded directory with photos of
practitioners and/or advocate locations, postings and links to YOUR events, specials,
articles, etc.,upcoming events of the cooperative, members forum, blog, on into infinity!

Next, we talked about co-op models explored on the internet. Those links follow
.

Vision, Mission and Mandate | Victoria Community Health Co-operative

Montana Faith-Health Cooperative

Community First Health Co-op

Two ideas resonated with our group from the Victoria, BC Co-op:

1. Evening events open to the public
to continue sharing our creative ideas for the co-op.
Followed by two holistic health professionals speaking on, and demonstrating, their
work/modality/therapy/facet of holistic health (healing foods, herbs for healing,
feng shui, dance and music for healing.)

Locations would be varied amongst the surrounding communities to draw people from
these locations, such as Yoga Tree in Hotchkiss, Paonia Public Library Meeting Room,
Blue Sage, etc. These potentially could be called:

2.  Monthly Wellness Clinics
Offering the health services of participating holistic providers to Co-op members
Appointments would be scheduled in advance through each provider.

Everyone also filled out the ways they would be interested in assisting the new
cooperative: Wellness/health professional/provider/user of health care of education
services, Administration, Communications/Promotion, Education, Event Management,
Financial Management, Hospitality, Human Resource Management,
Web-site Management, Other

We discussed as well, Benefits for providers:
Getting to know each other and the work we do via exchanges or lecture demonstrations,
then using this networking for referrals for our own patients/clients/customers.
Supporting each other through health care. Reiki Exchange.

We discussed the desire to have a holistically minded physician in the co-op,
homeopath, naturopath, osteopath, acupuncturist, herbalists, all types of massage,
energy bodywork and more!

Our second organizational meeting
Tuesday, June 15 at Hotchkiss Yoga Tree
was an inspirational and strategic meeting.

We looked over the Montana and Canadian cooperative’s information
and then discussed how we would like to create our own cooperative.
Below are some of the subject matters we discussed.

A. Our Vision and Mission Statement
(most important who are we and what do we offer, etc)? The group who met agreed that
this is essential in order to move forward with continuity and a solid foundation.

B. Administrators, or if non-profit, board members
With summer upon us, Margaret and I are seeing that there are times in the coming
months that we will be out of town and would need others to assist with the continued
creation of the coop for those times.  Loraine Adams has divinely stepped in for some of
that time, but we are in need of a few more people.

C. Clinics
(once a month, or 6 times a year, practitioner’s offer their services to those in need….
appointments are set up with the client/practitioner, the exchange/donation is an
agreement between the two, and the work is done from your facility)

D. Educational Programs
(once or twice a month to educate community and members)

We have connected with the Blue Sage and they are very interested
in promoting this under their Lecture Series….we are meeting with
them this coming Monday 22 June to talk about specifics for the
community educational programs.  We would like to offer educational
programs in other towns around the area also.  And, we have talked
about setting up educational programs for exchanging practitioner’s
offerings for possible referrals and knowledge.

 E. Design a Website
(directory, information, vision, mission, offerings, etc)

 F. Memberships
(how much annually or monthly and what are benefits of being a community member or
practitioner member)? We would like to see a new paradigm here and with the Clinics

G. Fairs
(once to twice a year)

H. Funding
(through memberships and other funding options to cover expenses, expand future
offerings and fairs, and to assist those who are in need)

Out of the discussions, we created questions with the list of goals and are asking you for
feedback as to “how you see the cooperative working for you and the community and what
part will you provide for the cooperative”.  This will assist in representing a design that
resonates with all of us as to how and what the cooperative will look and be run.
Let’s create a new paradigm and be as creative as we are inspired to be.

Please share your ideas and suggestions in the categories below
and return it to us as soon as possible.

1.  Vision and Mission Statement (who are we and what do we offer, etc)?

2.  Administrators or Non-profit, board members?

3.  Clinics-ideas about how to set them up, their purpose, the exchange/donation.

4.  Educational Programs-revolve through the clinician members?

5.  Design for a Website? The benefit?

6.  Memberships-how much, various categories, what to spend the $ on?

7.  Fairs-ideas?

8.  Funding?

You may go to the Contact page and submit your ideas
for the Cooperative Creation!

Next meeting's progress will be updated  here

If the above catches your interest,
and you have great ideas to share, please join us !
We will continue to discuss the creation of the co-op
during regular meetings at the same time of moving ahead and
arranging our first in the NFVHH Educational Series.
Remember we believe holistic health includes
everyone represented at the health fair!

In joy creating!
Blessings to all!
